Streptococcus pyogenes emm typing has become one of the best access used in molecular typing of group A streptococci (GAS). Accurate identification of GAS is an essential part of epidemiological and pathogenetic studies of streptococcal diseases, assist knowledge of the dynamics of emm types in a region thus may threw light on the pathogenesis of GAS infections. Streptococcus pyogenes has been diagnosed according to their morphological and biochemical characteristics, as well confirmed by using Vitek‐2 system and molecular identification according to the results of amplification and sequencing of 16S rRNA gene. On the other hand, emm typing was done according to the guidelines stated by the centers for disease control and prevention (CDC) protocol guidelines. A total of 93 bacterial isolates were obtained from 500 clinical samples after culture on suitable media, out of these only 22 isolates were identified as S. pyogenes. Moreover, the results showed that these isolates belong to seven stereotypes (emm 104.1, emm 28, emm 44, emm 63, emm 1, emm 5.103 and emm 90) of emm types E2, E3, E4, E6 and A. C3 and M5 respectively.
